Powerful, moving and from the heart. Keep at it Natalie. You and the rest of the Chicks have plenty to be proud of. We need to hear the voice of reason in America again.
why does country music care!! Natalie disowned country fans; so why are we buying their music now???? go figure. PS: I totally believe and have fought for “free speech” but she put down our President on foreign soil, in a country that already hates us that is my problem with her; if she had said it in Texas or even the USA I don’t believe I would have taken it so hard. and then she put down Country music fans…to heck with her.

I am a USAF veteran and I am embarrased and disgusted with my government. They lie to us about WMD’s and sacrfice the lives of our men and women in uniform that we love and for what?. They botch Katrina and leave thousands of our citizens in tents and now they can’t protect our borders. Dozens of government officials have been indicted for abuse of power and we blame Abu Graib on six reservists from West Virginia. And we are mad at Natalie because she has the guts to say early on what many of us are afraid to say now but we know in our hearts is true. We have lost the moral high ground. This is America, the land of the free and the home of the brave. Like the Chicks did, Let’s act like it!!!
The comments about President Bush (on
foreign soil) were thoughtless and very
disrespectful. . .no matter what your
political views!! No longer a Dixie
Chicks supporter. . .in any way!
I have a big problem with celebrities using their stardom to promote their political views (as if anyone really care what they think), but the fact is she said it, it was three years ago, it’s time to get over it. I like their music and intend on listening.
I saw this video today on one of the country music video channels and caught myself cheering to the words that Natalie sings. This country was founded on freedoms and for The Dixie Chicks to have gone throught some much for what was said 3 years ago is not the America I thought I lived in. Keep your heads up girls.
I never was much for country music, but I love this song! It’s refreshing to see someone stand up to this administration and say I’m not going to believe in your s**t anymore. Thank you Dixie Chicks!
“Not Ready To Make Nice” is awesome. I am happy Dixie Chicks are not making nice, not backing down to all those rednecks that still defending a president that has destroyed everything we stand for. They still don’t understand that Natalie was not the one that disowned the country. Bush is doing it all by himself.
So, when May 23rd comes like jason said, I will be the second person in line to buy it.
Country music fans disowned the Chicks, NOT the other way around!! So Natalie was ashamed that the President was from Texas, well here is an Austin girl who feels the same way! Reba McEntire, whom I adored, booed them onstage when they were nominated for ACM’s Group of the Year! How completely rude! Thanks Vince for calling her on that too! Country music fans seem to only admire free speech if it the same opionion as there own, but they sure fly that flag proudly and proclaim free speech for all. I love the Chicks and wouldn’t blame them if the told country fans to go take a flying leap. But it will be country music’s loss, and you know it.
And to Michael, the USAF vet, thank you for serving this great land of ours and thank you for speaking up about what you believe! To sacrifice lives for a cause that doesn’t make sense is a damn shame, and for those of you waving the flag for it, shame on you.
If Natalie had said the same thing about a Democratic president, would it really haved caused such a fuss? NO! Hell, she would have been a hero to country music fans. It wouldn’t have mattered a hill of beans if she said it overseas. Let’s get honest about this.
They got death threats, their homes were vandalize, their (conservative) parents and even a grand-parent in a nursing home got demeaning mail! They should be pissed! Let’s focus on the important things this country needs if we are going to sacrifice young men and women! Amen Mike, amen!
I support the dixie chicks. I think they are great singers no matter what they have said. My gandchildren Love them. Please come back to Cleveland Ohio so I can take them to see you’al sing.
Go Chicks Go !!!! After serving in the US Navy for 22 years I believe I can say that the Dixie Chicks represent American values much better than a rich white boy who is a member of the Lucky Sperm Club. For those of you who think that W is from Texas all I can say is pluhlezeeeeee. Ever wonder where Andover and Yale are at? How about Kennebunkport? Yep, thats right, George W (like all the Bushies) are friggin carpet bagging Yankees…..
Those who are STILL whining about Natalie exercising her RIGHT to free speech are the ones who are Anti-American–in the truest sense. And, to quote Jeff Foxworthy…”You might be a redneck!”
My views are opposite of those of the Dixie Chicks…and just like that is none of their business, their views are none of mine. I believe that we put entirely too much emphasis on the views of our entertainers these days, they are as entitled to their opinions as we are. That’s what makes our country so great. Although I disagree with their antics, I agree that they are wonderful musicians and deserve to be recognized for their abilities…not demeaned for their beliefs.
I agree …. it’s been how long now? I am so happy to see the Chicks back in the music scene
It’s time to move forward and let bygons be bygons. Their new song strongly shows where they STILL stand and they are just letting everyone know that they may have been knocked down for a while … but they will rise to the top again. Good Job Dixie Chicks
I love this new song & I am sooooo happy that they finally came out with another album. They really do deserve to be applauded for what they are doing! A lot of people are upset with them, but take a look at our President he is a joke & I am sure many Americans would agree! You GO CHICKS!!!!
I hate the government, all they do is LIE.
I LOVE THE DIXIE CHICKS!!! you ladies are awesome and you need to keep doing what your doing. Everyone should be able to say whatever they want to say. I am with you all the way. LOVE YOU DIXIE CHICKS!!!
I USE TOO LOVE THE CHICKS BEFORE THEY PUT DOWN OUR GREAT COUNTRY .
I STILL ENJOY THE FIRST COUPLE CDS
BUT THIS SONG SIMPLY SUCKS !!!!
I am a proud military wife, and I support our troops and president. I also support the 1st amendment…Freedom of Speech. Ever heard of it? Every one of us is exercising it right now, without repercussions. Natalie Maines exercised her 1st amendment right and got hell for it. I’ve always loved the Dixie Chicks and their music, and I still do. Their latest release is actually my favorite song yet, because it has the most meaning. If it is offending you, then maybe you deserve to be offended.
I bought my husband every Chicks CD, BEFORE they slammed our president on foreign soil. I am a veteran of the Army. Now, their political views or any other material will NEVER be brought in my house if I have any thing to say about it. Go REBA!!! Boo them every time.
Who the f*** cares what their someones views are when they can make music that good…the chicks can sing an thas what I love about em
With the current situation in Iraq and the support of the war at an all time low, I think the timing of this release will only do good things for the Chicks.
I am very upset with the Dixie Chicks.
This new video and song, I’m Not Ready to make nice is DISGUSTING, Natalie can’t leave well enough alone and SHE doesn’t know how to SHUT her MOUTH when people don’t care what she has to say. If she wants to SING then SING, and not this song! She is obnoxious and needs to GET OVER HERSELF!!
Luv the song – - – just started hearing you back on the radio and seeing the videos on TV. Lyrics says it all… keep up the strength and get back on the road. Seems strange everyone else can speak their minds but the “Chicks” – just doesn’t make sense….I dont see anyone boycotting all the actors that speak out about the same topic.
Everyone makes mistakes. Whether the Chicks call what they said or did a mistake or not, it doesn’t matter. They have freedom of speech. Regardless, that is no reason to stop listening to such awesome artists. I absolutely love “Not Ready To Make Nice”. I can really relate to it, actually. I can’t wait for the album to come out. I support my most fav. artists and the Chicks are it–from day one!
I’ve lived my entire life proud to be a country girl…until now. God bless you, Dixie Chicks. Please don’t turn your backs on all of us country music fans. We’re not all ignorant, backwater hillbillies. Some of us still believe in the power of free speech. November elections are not that far away and I’ll be humming your music all the way to the ballot box. TRUTH TO POWER!!!
forget the haters, im a born & raised texas gal- yeah, the D/Chicks(or natalie) messed up making that comment about bush..but thats free speech. that gets me when people can dish it, but cant handle it back, c’mon..& for ppl to hate on their music for something they said.. get over it, youre just lookin for a reason to be mad. well.. GET MAD. this song IS well done. the video is awesome, the girls are doin their thing..
KEEP IT UP.
Paula from TEXAS.
As an Aussie reading these posts, I can’t help but think how our world would be today if we all considered the words, values and actions of our politicians (yes, ELECTED officials) – half us much as we do those of our celebrity’s…
As for the ‘Chicks, can’t wait to see you back In Australia, will snap this record up when it hits the stores here!
Keep up the great music, continue to entertain us – hey, even keep us thinking about the meaningful topics in life we should focus on – our family, our loved ones, our values and our respect for other and our rights to make ourselves heard peacefully & lawfully…
Love the new song.
Scott.
Gnatalie, we all have opinions and yet most of us don’t feel compelled to drone on about them long after the moment has passed. One wishes that somebody you respected had the good sense to tell you you’re making a deep hole deeper. Oh wait, you’re a lefty. You respect no one but yourself.
Absolutely Awesome video! This video shows that times obviously have yet to change. Women are thought to not have any word in political actions. So what if they use their stardom to post their political views if they can get them out there and speak for the little people more power to them, some musicians are promoting sex, violence, and destruction upon women especially, and what do we do about it, we as a society sing right a long and say hell yeah, as if what they have to say has more validity. Well let me point out to you that in all the years women have inhabited this ‘great nation’ we, women have been forced to constantly keep quiet, well you keep it up Chicks and you keep your opinions out in the open. The two best parts of the song and video is the one part that states that it’s a said day when a mother will teach her daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger. What happened to love one another, or even do unto others? The other part that is awesome is the x-ray of the woman’s back bone. Don’t let them break you down. The art in this video should move just about anyone. The fact that the video is in black and white clearly plays on the right and wrong. There can’t be any gray area as they so elegantly portray.
Sing and be heard, speak and be heard!!!
If people are wondering why there is every brewing anti-American sentiment in the world today, they only need look at some of these comments.
A message for the backward Republican rednecks among you – America is NOT above everyone else. George Bush, whatever your opinion on his values and actions, is not a deity. Please get over it. She’s just some singer.
well no matter what happens. im always going to be a fan of yours and no matter what anyone says im always going to buy your CD’s for the rest of my life.this band is the best and always will be. love yall and keep on singing and telling what is own your mind.
The dizzy chicks spoke their minds, as small as they are,and many of us spoke ours with our pocket books and radio stations. We don’t listen to them. We do not support them financially by purchasing their products. They certainly have the right to say whatever they please. That right is granted by their Creator and garranteed by the Constitution. The right to speak does not mean I have to listen. They are entertainers and not political annalist. They are on stage to provide entertainment, just like any trained animal act in the circus. If they want to politicize the stage change carreers. And I feel just as strongly against Jeff Foxworthy ever since he made the comment about workers with their names on their shirts being stupid. He has a radio show and I refuse to listen to him. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
Liberal twits. If you hate America so much, move. Your not wanted anyway.
Ralph, just because they don’t support your stupid president why does that mean they’re anti-american? It’s statements like these that make American’s seem seem stupid and narrow minded to the world. The whole ‘if you’re not for us then you’re against us’ thing… for goodness sakes grow up!
I am from New Orleans. Bush may have taken a week longer then he should, but he tried to help. He tried to help us help ourselves….its not just him, it’s the American people that need to help as well. Still, a few years later…people are getting their lives back on track. And as a Marine wife (My husband is currently overseas, missed our 3 year anniversary and our daughter’s 5th birthday) I am not bitter towards him doing his job. He became a Marine knowing war was always a possibility and volunteered several times before he was even sent. Same with a lot of the Marines. Just keep an open mind and use empathy to our president. And NEVER speak badly of our wonderful country! Even if you don’t like the president, that’s your right. If you don’t like the country we have though, what other choice do you have?
this song proved to be a hit by winning a lot of grammy awards. the dixie chicks did nothing wrong but sorely use their freedom of speech. it should not matter were their freedom of speech was used. they r great musicians and all those who r mad at them, it’s coz u ain’t got the guts to speak out like them. war should neva be supported in any way!!!!!
