The first lady of country music, Tammy Wynette, will be inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame during their annual awards ceremony on Oct. 18, along with Kyle Fleming ("I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool") and Mark D. Sanders ("I Hope You Dance"). Wynette, Fleming, and Sanders will join the prestigious ranks of country legends like Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams, Vince Gill, and many others.
Tammy Wynette is best known for her enormous hit from 1968, "Stand By Your Man," but also hit the charts with "Your Good Girl's Gonna Go Bad" and "I Don't Wanna Play House." She died in 1998 of a pulmonary blood clot, at the age of 55. Learn more about Tammy Wynette.
