Gwyneth Paltrow: Country Singer?

Follow me on:

Gwyneth PaltrowLooks like actress Gwyneth Paltrow may be getting more than she originally bargained for when she signed up to play a country singer in the upcoming movie Country Strong -- she may actually have a bonafide country hit on her hands.

The film isn't due out until December, so consider this your sneak preview that Paltrow's voice, previously heard singing alongside Huey Lewis on the 2000 cover of "Crusin'," can also handle country. The single sounds primed and ready to saddle up alongside the rest of the country pop on the radio today.

Take a listen to the movie's title track and see for yourself. The film also stars Tim McGraw as her manager husband.

I think her voice sounds great! Music is about having people relate to the music and words you sing. I think she did this on this song. You don’t have to be country to sing country.

That song will go to #1. Good combo of lyrics and great singing plus (Vince Gill) on harmony.

I definitely believe Gwyneth Paltrow has a big future in front of her in country music. I have recently seen the movie “Country Strong” and the musical numbers throughout the song were great! I was a bit skeptical when I first heard that Gwyneth Paltrow was singing in the film, but I was very impressed. She has a great sound and was a natural performer on stage. There was a particular song entitled “Coming Home” that Paltrow sings in the movie and it is very good. The statement was true, she definitely has a future and “Country Strong” is a bonafide country hit!

I’m listening to Gwyneth singing Landslide, a country song with an authentic country arrangement from Glee 5. I didn’t know it was her until the DJ told us at the end of the song and was totally flabbergasted. Gwyneth Paltrow? Yep. And she really has the chops for country. Great song, Landslide, and great performance

And to comment directly on your ‘what does she know…’ If you’re right, then the whole population of the United States of America had absolutely no right whatsoever to buy a single record by The Beatles 1964-April 2011. How could they possibly understand the music of young working and lower-middle class northern Engishmen, even if it was grafted on to their love of black rhythm n blues?

How dare they think they can understand black music, etc, etc?

GWYNETH PALTROW ALREADY HAD A BIG FAN IN ME, AS AN ACTRESS.. WHEN I HEARD THE MUSIC IN COUNTRY STRONG, I COULDN’T BELIEVE IT WAS HER. SHE IS ONLY THE FOURTH WOMAN IN MY LONG LIFE WHO HAS A VOICE THAT I CAN SIT AND LISTEN TO ALL DAY. I LITERALLY FELL IN LOVE WITH HER SINGING VOICE. I COULDN’T CARE LESS WHERE SHE LIVES OR GREW UP. I’M AN OLD SOUTHERN BOY FROM ARKANSAS, AND I SAY, CHECK OUT WHERE SOME OF OUR MOST FAMOUS SINGERS ARE FROM BEFORE YOU MAKE DISPARAGING REMARKS ABOUT HER. THIS WOMAN IS GREAT AS A COUNTRY SINGER.
