Track of the Week: "Grandpa (Tell Me 'Bout the Good Ol' Days)"

Follow me on:

The Judds' "Grandpa (Tell Me 'Bout the Good Ol' Days)" came out in January 1986, and became one of the great country songs about wanting to turn back the years.

"Grandpa" was written by O'Kanes singer Jamie O'Hara, and it earned him the Grammy for Best Country Song.

According to Bob Miller's The Judds: A Biography, Naomi Judd heard the demo for the song shortly after her dad Glen Judd died.

"Naomi broke down in tears for her father on the spot," Miller wrote.

The nostalgic tune still gets plenty of radio airplay, and in 2005 it was even adapted (weirdly!) to a children's book.
