Those of you disappointed with the lack of catastrophe can find solace in "This World Can't Stand Long," a fire-and-brimstone classic performed memorably by Roy Acuff, Johnnie & Jack, and Wilma Lee, among others.
The moral: The world is still with us. But not for long.
