Country singer Mindy McCready was found dead on the porch of her Arkansas home on Sunday. Her death was caused by an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. A month earlier, her fiance David Wilson had committed suicide in a similar manner, on the same porch.
McCready, who rocketed to fame in 1996 with her #1 country song "Guys Do It All the Time," had become better known in recent years for legal problems, a sex tape, and in 2010 appearing on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. Most recently, she had lost custody of her two sons.
"I've been beaten, sued, robbed, arrested, jailed, and evicted," McCready wrote on a fan website in January 2012. "But I'm still here. With a handful of people that I know and trust, a revived determination, and both middle fingers up in the air, I'm ready. I've been here before. I'm a fighter. I'm down, but I'll never be out."
