On Nov.24th I was in the 1st row at the MJI radio simulcast, thanks to Y107 here in NY. I was overjoyed just to be that close, but when Garth sang Belleau Wood live, I just became so overwhelmed by the beauty of the song and his beautiful voice, that I started to cry. Towards the end of the song, Garth sees me crying and chokes up himself. He points right at me and mouths "Thank You". I can't believe he's noticed me, much less thanking me for displaying an honest emotion to his music. He says, "I was doin' alright 'till you started doin' that. That's the best compliment you can give that song." I mouth back, "Thank YOU," still cryin' and blowing kisses at him with both hands. When the next commercial break comes, a few seconds after that, Garth jumps off the stage and makes a bee-line straight for me with outstretched arms! I don't remember standing up, but in a second he was holding me in his arms and we're both crying! He gave me the tightest, most sincere hug ever. And it lasted a long time, till we could both compose ourselves. It was such a special encounter. I almost forgot to give him the flowers I brought for him. But then I remembered and he looked genuinely suprised that I had thought to get him flowers. "For me? Really?", he said. "Well how nice." Then he smells them and takes them back up on the stage with him. When the radio show was over, Garth stayed and mingled with us for quite a while. He even came over to me AGAIN and held my hand with both of his and thanked me for making this such a special night for him. Can you imagine? I made HIS night special!!! Well, that's my Garthxperience. Hope y'all enjoyed reading about it. Just wanted to share with you what a special man he is, although you already knew that! |
