Garth Notes

This page contains notes and links to things having to do with Garth and his concert.

First off, don't forget the film!! From my experience, if you are relatively close to the stage, you should use 1000 speed film, although some people have said that 400 speed will work as well. Don't bother with a flash, because unless you are within 12 feet or so, the flash isn't going to make any difference. The stagelights are bright enough that you can see Garth without using a flash.

Note... If you are in nosebleeds, or are on the other end of the arena, you probably won't get anything worth looking at for pictures unless you have an incredible zoom lens.

Also note that I am not telling you this definitely will give you incredible pictures, so if none of your pictures turn out, don't blame me for this advice.

If you have seats on the floor, you should be able to talk a security person into letting you bring a gift to the stage. Again, I have no idea what the guards will be like in Vegas, so if they don't allow you to do this, don't blame me for telling you this.

If you would like to give Garth some flowers, here is a listing of Florists in Las Vegas. I'm not endorsing them, but providing a link to where you can buy flowers.

You might want to print out a copy of the Thomas & Mack Arena seating chart. Note that this is set up for basketball, but that the stage will most likely be at the Entrance end of the building. Download your copy of the map here, or just follow the link and print out the map from that page.

Here is Ticketmaster's information for the Thomas & Mack Arena. Note that they have parking at the arena that costs $3.00.

If you want to make signs, don't forget to pack your poster board and markers. I'd recommend posterboard that is really bright, such as flourescent green, pink, or yellow. Make sure to give yourself at least an hour to complete your sign. Filling in those letters takes a while to do. I've been told the best markers to buy are called Marks-a-Lot (Not sure if that is how it's spelled.)

It was suggested months ago by Teresa, Always GB, that people from the Internet should wear shirts so we could recognize each other. On my last roadtrip to Lexington, our group of 8 people did just that.

I'd like to suggest that we do the same for Vegas. The shirt basically is a Royal Blue (I call it Troyal Blue ;)) t-shirt, and you use white lettering to spell out:

I'm a GarthNutt!

on the front.

I also put a nickname on the upper left. My shirt is in navy blue, 'cause I happened to have a shirt and didn't feel like buying a new one. I hope that we'll see a lot of these shirts. They're inexpensive to make and they'll make us an easily recognizable force of Garthness! :D

Here's how my shirt turned out. The pic is a bit dark, but you should get the idea. I went to the t-shirt shop in the mall and had them iron on 3" block letters for the "I'm a GarthNutt!" part, and then script 1 1/2" letters for my nickname.

Michael's craft stores sell shirts pretty reasonable. Find out if you have a Michaels craft store near you. I believe when I priced them, they were 3.99 for S-XL, and 4.99 for 2XL. This could have been a sale, but I'm sure they are reasonable, even when they're not on sale.
