Alan Jackson & Jimmy Buffett

The CMA Awards were held at the Grand Old Opryhouse in Nashville, TN on November 5, 2003. Hosting for his 12th year was Vince Gill.

The show started out with a performance by Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffet with their chart-topping duet, "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere." While I personally am sick of hearing the song, it was a good performance.

Wynonna presented the first award of the night for Music Video.

The award went to "Hurt" from the late Johnny Cash.

Toby Keith performed his No. 1 song, "I Love This Bar."

Trista Rhen and William Shatner came out next to introduct Brad Paisley singing "Celebrity." They commented that they both had worked in the video, but were wondering why Brad didn't ask them to sing with him tonight. I wondered the same thing... not about singing, but they could have been part of the performance. Little Jimmy Dickens played guitar with Brad during the song.

Jennifer Hanson and Keith Urban presented the award for Vocal Event.

The award went to Alan Jackson & Jimmy Buffett for "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere."
While accepting the award, Jimmy said "I'm glad I could help your struggling career." He also mentioned that this was the first award of any kind he's ever won.

Martina performed "In My Daughter's Eyes." Beautiful performance, as usual!

Brooks & Dunn turned it up a notch with their performance of "You Can't Take the Honky Tonk Out Of The Girl." This is why they're nominated for Entertainer of the Year. Awesome! After they finished, Vince came over with a CMA award and said that the Duo of the Year was not scheduled to be televised, but he didn't think that was right, so he gave them their award on the air, which was cool.

Rebecca Lynn Howard and Marty Roe presented the award for Single of the Year.

The award went to Johnny Cash for "Hurt."
Tim McGraw performed "Red Ragtop." Not sure why he chose an older song to perform, rather than his current single.

Chris Cagle, Mark Wills and Sara Evans presented the Song of the Year Award.

The award went to Doug Johnson and Kim Williams for "Three Wooden Crosses.
Dolly Parton and Nora Jones performed a duet of "The Grass is Blue."

George Strait performed "Honk If You Honky Tonk."

Terri Clark performed "I Wanna Do It All." Loved the postcards of Terri doing various things from the song, and showing her all over the world.

Rascal Flatts performed "I Melt" On the screen behind them, the video was played.

LeAnn Rimes and Kid Rock presented the Album of the Year Award.

The award went to Johnny Cash for American IV: The Man Comes Around.
Kenny Chesney performed "There Goes My Life."

Patty Loveless performed "Lovin' All Night."

Lonestar presented the Male Vocalist of the Year Award.

The award went to Alan Jackson.
Joe Nichols was the first of the Horizon nominees to perform. He performed "Honkytonkville."

Alison Krauss + Union Station performed "Everytime You Say Goodbye" and got a standing ovation.

Blake Shelton, the second of the Horizon nominees to perform. He performed "The Baby."

Shania performed "She's Not Just a Pretty Face."
