Kenny Chesney's "There Goes My Life" remains at No. 1 for a sixth straight week, holding back Alan Jackson's "Remember When" once more. At No. 3 is Brooks & Dunn's "You Can't Take The Honky Tonk Out of the Girl," and Toby Keith moves up one spot with "American Soldier" dropping Terri Clark's "I Wanna Do It All" down to No. 5. I predicted that Alan would take the No. 1 spot this week incorrectly, but I feel that he will move up next week.
The song with the most upward chart movement is George Strait's "Desperately," which moves from No. 51 to No. 41. Two other songs move up eight spots, the first Billy Currington's "I've Got a Feelin'" moving to No. 46 and the second Jeff Bates "I Wanna Make You Cry" which moves up to No. 47.
Brand spankin' new on the chart is "Letters from Home" from John Michael Montgomery, which debuts at No. 48. Rhonda Vincent's "If Heartaches Had Wings" debuts at No. 54, while Diamond Rio comes in at No. 55 with "We All Fall Down." Chris Cagle (recently put on vocal rest through June 1st) debuts at No. 58 with "I'd Be Lyin'" and Trini Triggs debuts at No. 59 with "Heaven On Earth."
On the album charts, Toby Keith's Shock'n Y'All remains at the top with Alan Jackson at No. 2 with Greatest Hits, Vol II. Shania remains at No. 3 with Up while Josh Turner moves up to No. 4, his highest chart position ever for his debut album Long Black Train, moving Toby Keith's Unleashed down one spot to No. 5.
Once more there are no new albums this week.
NOTE: All chart rankings are based on the song or album's position on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart or Billboard Country Albums Chart for January 31, 2004.
