When The Sun Goes Down - Kenny Chesney

When The Sun Goes Down - Kenny Chesney

Kenny Chesney's duet with Uncle Kracker "When The Sun Goes Down" remains at No. 1 with a bullet, so I'd say it's gonna stick around a while. Moving up four spots this week to No. 2 is Keith Urban's "You'll Think Of Me." At No. 3 is Buddy Jewell's "Sweet Southern Comfort," which is the same place it was last week. Sara Evans' "Perfect" drops from No. 2 to No. 4 this week, and Rascal Flatts' "Mayberry" rises three spots to No. 5. All top 5 songs are bulleted, so I would say Kenny will hold onto the No. 1 spot next week, and the others I have no guess what they might do.

While we don't have any super big movers this week we do have a few songs making decent moves up the charts. In his third week on the charts is Joe Nichols song "If Nobody Believed In You" which moves up 8 spots this week. Moving up 7 spots are Toby Keith's "Whiskey Girl" and Columbia newcomer Trent Willmon's "Beer Man". Toby's song moves from No. 50 to No. 43, and Trent's song moves from No. 54 to No. 47 this week. Josh Gracin is still making some good moves with his debut single "I Want To Live" which moves up 6 from No. 43 to No. 37.

Another song that is really making some extraordinary progress, although only moving 4 spots this week is Gretchen Wilson's "Redneck Woman." What makes this so unusual is the song has only been on the charts 5 weeks and yet it's already in the Top 20. This type of chart movement is something you'd see from Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, or Alan Jackson, not a brand new artist. What's refreshing about it to me is that she's performing with the big boys, which is something that not many women are able to do these days. Maybe the men's reign in country music is about to end and women are going to start topping the charts once more?

New songs on the charts this week include Brad Paisley's duet with Alison Krauss, "Whiskey Lullaby" which debuts at No. 48. Rodney Atkins releases "Someone To Share It With" which debuts at No. 54. Shannon Lawson debuts "Smokin' Grass" at No. 55, and Jimmy Wayne debuts "You Are" at No. 56.

On the album charts, Kenny Chesney remains at No. 1 for a lucky seventh week with When The Sun Goes Down. Toby Keith is at No. 2 with Shock'n Y'All. Josh Turner finally moves up one spot to No. 3 this week with Long Black Train, which is the highest charting position for his album. At No. 4 is Keith Urban, who also moves up one spot with Golden Road, and Alan Jackson's Greatest Hits, Vol II comes in at No. 5.

New albums debuting this week are Waylon Jennings' Ultimate Waylon Jennings at No. 16, Elvis Presley's Elvis: Ultimate Gospel at No. 30, David Lee Murphy's Tryin' to Get There at No. 46, and Merle Haggard's 40 #1 Hits debuts at No. 67.

NOTE: All chart rankings are based on the song or album's position on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart or Billboard Country Albums Chart for April 10, 2004.
