Alan Jackson Greatest Hits II

For the week of 09/06/03 Alan Jackson remains on top of the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart for a fifth week, with "It's 5 O'clock Somewhere" which is his duet with Jimmy Buffett. His [link url>http://erclk.about.com/?zi=1/Nd%5d]Greatest Hits, Vol II[/link] also comes in at the top for a second week selling 158,158 units, which was a 52% drop from his debut week of 328,183 units. Shania Twain's Up showed a boost in sales due to her recent network TV special, with a 70% increase over the previous week. Sara Evans album Restless debuts at the No. 3 spot with 44,283 units sold during that first week. This is her highest debut ever. Coming in close behind is Capitol newcomer Dierks Bentley, who had first week totals of 38,947 units sold. Rounding out the album Top 10 are Toby Keith with Unleashed, Kenny Chesney with No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems, Brooks & Dunn with Red Dirt Road, Lonestar's From There To Here: Greatest Hits, Rascal Flatts with Melt, and Tim McGraw with Tim McGraw and the Dancehall Doctors.

On the singles charts Kenny Chesney remains in the No. 2 spot with "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems,", but he's lost his bullet, so it's unlikely that he'll move up to the top. Alan's song still has a bullet, so look for it to stay around for a sixth week. No. 3 is newcomer Dierks Bentley's "What Was I Thinking" has a bullet and may take the No. 2 spot next week. Quite exciting for the Capitol Nashville newcomer. Shania's "Forever and For Always" sits at No. 4, with Tim McGraw's "Real Good Man" holding the No. 5 spot. Both of these songs have bullets and look to continue heading up the charts. Brad Paisley's "Celebrity" drops from 3 to 6 this week, followed by "Help Pour Out The Rain (Lacey's Song)" from newcomer Buddy Jewell, "Red Dirt Road" from Brooks & Dunn, Trace Adkins with "Then They Do," and rounding out the Top 10 is Martina's "This One's For The Girls," from her upcoming self-titled album, due out on September 30th.

The only new single on the chart this week is Brad Paisley's "Little Moments," which debuts at 58.

Making big gains in its second week, Toby Keith's "I Love This Bar" moves up from 30 to 23. On the album side of things, the RCA Waylon Tribute, "I've Always Been Crazy debuts at No. 19.

NOTE: All chart rankings are based on the song or album's position on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart or Billboard Country Albums Chart for September 6, 2003.
