Gary Allan's "Tough Little Boys," holds on to the top spot on the singles charts this week, but has lost its bullet so next week should yeild a new No. 1 song. The songs in the 2nd - 6th spots on the chart all have bullets, so virtually any of them may move up, but my bet is on Keith Urban's "Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me," which has been in the runner-up spot for two weeks now. Coming in at No. 3 once more is Martina's "This One's for the Girls." At No. 4 is Toby Keith's "I Love This Bar." At No. 5 is Rascal Flatt's "I Melt." And just hovering outside the Top 5 is "Wave on Wave" from Pat Green, which moves up from No. 9 to No. 6, so I would expect this will move into the Top 5 next week, however with all the bulleted songs in front of it, it might not have the spins to push it past any of them.
There's lots of upward movement this week, a large selection of songs moving up 3-5 spots, but the largest gain is on Kenny Chesney's "There Goes My Life" which moves up 18 spots to No. 28 this week. That's some jump! Other large jumps come from Kevin Denney with "A Year At a Time" which moves seven spots to No. 50 this week, and Kenny Rogers "Handprints on the Wall" which also moves up seven spots to No. 53.
Brand new songs this week come from Clint Black with "Spend My Time," debuting at No. 43. I saw the premiere of the video for this on CMT over the weekend and it's real nice. Hope this gets Clint back to the top of the charts. It's been some time, and I think this is the song that could do that. Buddy Jewell's debut single "Help Pour Out The Rain (Lacey's Song)" peaked at No. 3, and his second single, "Sweet Southern Comfort" debuts this week at No. 47. If this one doesn't make it to No. 1, something is wrong with country radio. Tracy Lawrence just got a new record deal with DreamWorks Records, and his first single "Paint Me a Birmingham" debuts at No. 56. (Note: You may have heard Ken Mellons version on your radio station, which is the version I prefer, however Tracy's version is real good as well.) At No. 57, we have Sheryl Crow with "The First Cut is the Deepest." Rebecca Lynn Howard is back with "I Need a Vacation" coming in at No. 59.
This week on the album charts, Alan Jackson's [link url>http://erclk.about.com/?zi=1/Nd%5d]Greatest Hits, Vol II[/link] remains at the top spot. Martina also remains at No. 2 with her album Martina. And, remaining at No. 3 is Gary Allan with See If I Care. Shania Twain with Up comes in at No. 4, swapping places with Johnny Cash's American IV: The Man Comes Around which moves down one to No. 5.
New albums this week are the Dolly Parton Tribute [link url>http://erclk.about.com/?zi=1/O%5bE]Just Because I'm a Woman: Songs of Dolly Parton[/link] debuting at No. 6. Josh Turner's Long Black Train enters the charts at No. 19, while Rodney Atkins album Honesty debuts at No. 50 and Robert Earl Keen'sThe Party Never Ends: Songs You Know From The Times You Can't Remember debuts at No. 68.
NOTE: All chart rankings are based on the song or album's position on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart or Billboard Country Albums Chart for November 1, 2003.
