The pairing of award-winning recording artists Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss has created one of the hottest singles at country radio - and one of the most critically acclaimed - as they prepare to perform "Whiskey Lullaby" on the upcoming 39th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. The ACM duet also marks a first for Krauss, who makes her debut performance on the program amid the success of her "Great Mountain High Tour," which plays New York on May 27, just one night after the ACM telecast.
Advancing this week to #16* at R&R and #17* in Billboard, "Whiskey Lullaby" was penned by Jon Randall and Country Music Hall of Fame legend Bill Anderson. The powerful track has received widespread acclaim both for its songwriting and performances, with The Chicago Sun-Times hailing "the combination of [Paisley's] earnest delivery and [Krauss'] soaring soprano makes for a modern classic." Sony Scene -- News on Sony Artists
The new "Nashville Star" winner had a busy weekend. Saturday night marked his Grand Ole Opry debut where he performed his current single "I Meant To." Several of Brad's friends came up from his homestate of Alabama for the performance and Brad invited the group to stay the night and make guest appearances in his first video. The shoot took place in Nashville's Club NV and was directed by the award-winning Peter Zavadil. The concept comes from "a moment of reflection in which you realize that you've got only one chance at life." The video concentrated on Brad at the center of a rowdy club party and yet he's completely alone in his thoughts. Brad's friends report that he had a hard time keeping the thoughtful composure at the shoot though because of all the pretty girls on the set.
