Alan Jackson Greatest Hits II

Alan Jackson Greatest Hits II

After seven weeks in the No. 1 spot, the Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett duet, "It's 5 O'clock Somewhere" finally relinquishes the top spot, moving down to the runner up position. Our new No. 1 belongs to newcomer Dierks Bentley's "What Was I Thinking." Congratulations to Dierks and Capitol for this achievement.

The No. 3 spot belongs to Tim McGraw with "Real Good Man" moving up one place, and Buddy Jewell's "Help Pour Out The Rain (Lacey's Song)" also moves up one spot to No. 4. Both songs have bullets, and I'd have to say that Tim's song will most likely be our next No. 1. Buddy still has a chance. I have my fingers crossed for him. Rounding out the Top 5 is Kenny Chesney with "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems," which continues to move down the chart.

New songs to the chart this week include "Hot Mama" from Trace Adkins, which debuts at No. 53. Joe Nichols new one, "Cool To Be a Fool" comes in at No. 55. Billy Dean makes his first appearance on the charts in years with I'm In Love With You." I haven't heard it yet, but Billy Dean can sing the heck out of a ballad, and I'll bet this is the case with this song. The final new song this week belongs to newcomer Brad Wolf, with "Strictly Business" which debuts at No. 58.

Songs making big moves this week are Brad Paisley's "Little Moments," which moves from No. 46 to No. 39. But the biggest move of the week comes from the reigning CMA Duo of the Year, Brooks & Dunn, with their latest, "You Can't Take the Honky Tonk Out Of the Girl" moving from the debut position of No. 60 last week, all the way to No. 42 this week. That's some move!

On the album side of things, while Alan lost the top spot on the singles chart, his [link url>http://erclk.about.com/?zi=1/Nd%5d]Greatest Hits, Vol II[/link] remains at No. 1 on the album charts. After the passing of Johnny Cash, people have been scrambling to buy his music, making his album, American IV: The Man Comes Around the No. 2 spot on the album charts. Debuting at No. 3 is Clay Walker with A Few Questions. Shania's Up comes in at No. 3, and Toby Keith's Unleashed rounds out the Top 5.

Other albums debuting this week are Remembering Patsy Cline, the tribute album from MCA at No. 8. The Chieftains Further Down The Old Plank Road comes in at No. 28. June Carter Cash's Wildwood Flower debuts at No. 34. Two older Johnny Cash albums make an appearance on the charts. The Heart of a Legend sits at No. 49 and The Best of Johnny Cash: 20th Century Masters The Millennium Collection is at No. 54. Rick Trevino debuts at No. 58 with In My Dreams. Roger Creager debuts at No. 60 with Long Way To Mexico.

NOTE: All chart rankings are based on the song or album's position on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart or Billboard Country Albums Chart for September 27, 2003.
