George Strait in Concert

George Strait in Concert

This was my second time seeing George Strait. The last time I had seats a bit closer, but I think my photos still turned out well. As like before, George put on a great show. I love shows "in the round" because they let so many more people sit closer to the stage. In a stage at the end of the arena, so many people are so far away you can hardly see the artist. I hope more artists continue this trend of "in the round" shows.

George Strait has so many songs that he couldn't possibly cover every one of his hits, but he does a good job at the majority in a show that is about an hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours long. I didn't check my watch at the end of the show, so I'm not sure, but he sang 28 songs.

From the two shows I've seen, George always starts out entering to the instrumental of "Deep in the Heart of Texas," and leaves with "The Cowboy Rides Away." The middle is filled with a ton of the best Strait stuff around making it "the Best Day" (or evening, even).

When George plays "in the round" he sings 2 songs per side, then moves, so everyone gets a chance to see him from all sides. The first song was "Honk If You Honky Tonk," and from that he went into "Check Yes or No," and "I Can Still Make Cheyenne."

George said it was good to be in Sacramento with Kellie Coffey and Dierks Bentley. Then, he said it was time for some "Stars on the Water.

I won't name all the songs, but you can read the full set list below. George doesn't talk too much, but one part where I chuckled was with his introduction to "When Did You Stop Lovin' Me," he said it was by his favorite entertainer, Dusty Chandler (his character in the movie).

George Strait has so many hits that anyone who has enjoyed any of them would surely love watching him live. He doesn't jump around the stage, but his songs are pure entertainment, and when you see and hear him you know you are listening to a true country legend, and are blessed to do so.
