Trick Pony headlined the Dixon May Fair in Dixon, CA on May 8, 2004. Opening for them was BR549. While I had seen Trick Pony twice before, it was my first time seeing BR549, and I'm not really familiar with their music, so many of the songs are guesses of what the titles would be.
BR549 is a group playing what I would consider alternative country, or Americana. Their style is Country Western with some Western Swing here and there.
As BR549 was the opening act, I think that quite a few people decided to come later for the show in order to catch Trick Pony. While the music BR549 sings is enjoyable, it was something unfamiliar to many of the crowd as their music hasn't really received airplay, so they were at a disadvantage. But, regardless, the group did strike a friendly chord with the crowd, and halfway through the show there were some people dancing along with the music, so whether their music was known or not, it was enjoyed. The crowd did give them a good greeting, which I'm glad of.
As I said before, I don't know but maybe 3 song titles that the group played, so the set list is a guess on many of the songs. If you enjoy country music with a western feel, you would definitely enjoy these guys. They're quite talented musicians as well as vocalists, and I had fun watching them.
