Emily told a story of a party the previous night. They had played two dates in Las Vegas, so they had a party after the show on the first night, and Emily said there were all kinds of people there, including some Vegas showgirls in full costume. She said her 8-month-old son Gus was there and they posed him in between two showgirls. He was staring back and forth at them. Emily kidded the showgirls had some assets that she didn't have. She then said to Gus, "Just remember, Gus, what goes on in Vegas, STAYS in Vegas."
One of my favorite moments had to be when they sang "Godspeed." Natalie was in the center of a revolving stage, on a stool under a spotlight and the other two girls played their instruments while walking around. Disco balls were lowered and lights shone on them making sparkly lights like stars all over the audience. Very mood-setting. Then, later during "Landslide" petals of pastel colored confetti floated down as they sang. I couldn't help but compare it to Brooks & Dunn's show when they shot confetti and streamers out of a cannon at the crowd. Totally different experiences, and I love them both equally. They each fit the artist and mood of the songs perfectly.
Natalie thanked everyone for coming, saying, "We know you could have chosen the 50 Cent show, but you chose us."
I really enjoyed the show, and look forward to seeing the Chicks again next time they tour. No matter what Natalie may say, and whether or not I agree or disagree, the Dixie Chicks still sing some of the best country music around. And as long as they perform, I'll continue to go see them.
