All the other people were great, but I knew Buddy's show would be the best, and it was.
He came out and sang "I Wanna Thank Everyone," which is one of the songs he sang on Nashville Star after he won the contest. He looked great in a cobalt blue shirt and jeans. My second favorite Buddy song was next; "Abilene." Then my very favorite song was third, "Why We Said Goodbye." This is one of the saddest, but most beautiful songs I've ever heard, and Buddy sings his heart out on it.
Buddy kidded that yeah, this was Vegas, but he's taking us to church. He told us to open our hymnals to page 183 and follow along. With that, he sang "One Step at a Time."
We got the scoop that Buddy's next single is going to be "Sweet Southern Comfort" He said they just filmed the video for it, and they were waiting to see if "Help Pour Out The Rain (Lacey's Song)" was going to move any higher, and that they were hoping it would hit No. 1 the following week. (As the charts came out, Buddy's song was still moving up, hopefully it will make it to No. 1 next week. As I write this, it's sitting at No. 3.)
Next, Buddy sang "One Step At a Time." He then brought to everyone's attention that he was so happy for his wife's support through all the years he'd been trying to make it in Nashville. He said she has the hard job, staying home with the kids and making things work. She was there with him at the show off the side of the stage, and he dedicated the next song to her, "Please Come to Boston."
It was great hearing Buddy sing "Help Pour Out The Rain (Lacey's Song)" live, and that was next. After that, he got everyone on their feet with the Skynyrd classic "Gimme Three Steps" to close out the set.
Buddy was so great to see live. I know he's gonna be around for many years to come. I wish he would have gotten his shot years ago, but I'm sure glad he's here now. He's definitely worth going to see in concert. For someone that it a so called new star, he's definitely an entertainer.
