John Anderson Concert Review - Silver Springs, FL

On Sunday, March 14, John Anderson came home to give a concert in the Florida sunshine. John grew up in Apopka, which is only about 45 minutes from Silver Springs, and there were many family members and friends in attendance to cheer him on. John has been around for a long time, and it is easy to see why he has such a dedicated fan following. His musical delivery is smooth and his songs leave you with a sense of nostalgia. After over two decades in the music industry, he is still going strong.

There were thousands of fans filling the lawn in front of the Twin Oaks Mansion, and they were not shy about showing their appreciation for John. He hit the stage dressed in black jeans, a long sleeved black western shirt and a black cowboy hat. The heat didn't seem to phase him too much throughout his 90 minute set. He talked a little with the audience, but mostly concentrated on belting out a few of his many hits. Last year, he released a 2-CD set titled 'Anthology,' and the songs he performed can be found on the CD. "Seminole Wind" is a local favorite, and while all of the songs were appreciated, "Swinging" also generated quite a bit of audience noise. His band showed off their skills on the instrumental toe-tapper, "Small Farm in Kentucky." They also 'cooked' a little on "Orange Blossom Special." The group seems to be fairly well connected onstage and compliment each other. It is always more fun to be at a show where everyone onstage is enjoying what they are doing, and there was no question that the guys in the band were having a great time.

If you like good country music, you would enjoy a John Anderson show. He isn't much of a theatrical person, but you get over an hour of great entertainment. He is well worth checking out if he comes in your area.
