Montgomery Gentry

Montgomery Gentry performed at Feather Falls Casino on April 30, 2004. After a four day rest the boys were ready to party, and so was the crowd.

This was my third time seeing the guys in concert, and I knew I was in for a heck of a good time... and they did not disappoint. With a selection of songs from their first three albums, plus some new stuff from their upcoming May 18th release You Do Your Thing, Troy and Eddie gave us their all.

I had second row seats, and although people did stand up next to the stage for a good part of the show, I didn't have too much of a problem seeing. Actually, the venue had notes on all the seats in the first 3-4 rows saying that due to the type of show this was, people would be standing up next to the stage, and if you wanted to be re-seated, let an usher know. I'm not sure where they would have put someone if they did request this, however as the show was sold out. The venue isn't huge, but just big enough to be intimate, yet not overly small.

The guys started at the top of the riser in center stage in the dark with smoke rising behind them singing one of the songs, "Gone," from their upcoming album. The song seemed familiar. I'm not sure if it's a cover, but it is on their upcoming album. From there they went into "She Couldn't Change Me," then "Lonely and Gone."

There wasn't a whole lot of talking, it was pretty much solid music and sweat. These guys know how to put on a fantastic show. Can you say Entertainer? They're awesome!

Troy mentioned before singing another song from the upcoming album called "Last Thing I Do" that they chose the song because of them being on the road so much. It's a truck-drivin' song, but they sent it out to anyone that drives for a living, and has to be away from their families. Those fans of Brooks and Dunn will recognize the song from their Steers and Stripes album a few years back. Troy and Eddie do just as good a job on it.

In introducing another new song, Troy said that it was for all the ladies. He said everyone writes songs about the guys that cheat on their ladies, but this one was the reverse, and it was called "I Got Drunk."

Eddie said the title track was one they picked as a tribute to the service men and women who are fighting for our freedom every day.

Besides doing their own music, they also do an awesome cover of the Allman Brothers' "Midnight Rider."

They ended the show with "My Town," but I knew they'd be back, and they didn't disappoint. They sang "Hillbilly Shoes" for an encore.

An hour and twenty minutes of kick ass music. The boys sure do know how to throw a party.
