Brooks & Dunn have done the Neon Circus and Wild West Show for three years now, and this year was the first time I had been able to see it. The venue that I went to is the brand new Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV at the Orleans Casino. This would be the first show to use the venue, so everything was brand spanking new. The arena seats about 9,000 people and the show looked to be pretty well sold out.
Cledus T. Judd, master of the parody was the MC for the show, as he has been ever since the tour first debuted in 2001. While he only performed one song, his video for "Where's Your Mommy" opened the show to great response. I hadn't caught it yet and it was another classic Cledus masterpiece, which is a take-off on Toby Keith's "Who's Your Daddy."
Opening the show was Jeff Bates, whose "The Love Song" is sitting at the #13 spot on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart this week. Jeff was dressed in a white long-sleeved shirt and jeans.
During his 20-minute set a couple from I believe Arkansas that won a trip to see the show was brought up on stage and Jeff sang to them. I didn't write down which song it was, however.
Jeff is pretty new, and he's got a great voice, and I'm predicting good things for him in the future. Conway Twitty is a huge influence on him and you can really hear it in his voice. He thanked Kix and Ronnie for letting him come out on tour with them. He also dedicated "I Wanna Make You Cry" to all the ladies in the house.
