James Otto Interview

From Shelly Fabian, for About.com

AboutCountry Staff: How did you like doing the cameo appearance in Sony Nashville recording artist, Gretchen Wilson's new video for her song "Redneck Woman?"

James Otto: I was there for the taping and had a blast hanging out with Tanya, Hank Jr., and Kid-and supporting my girl Gretchen, but I just saw the final edit and I don't think my scene made the final cut! Thanks, Gretchen! ha

AboutCountry Staff: Was it a thrill to meet Hank Williams Jr. doing that cameo?

James Otto: It was great to see him again, but I had already met him at Rocky Mountain CRS (Country Radio Seminar) last year, and he has come out to some MuzikMafia events. But, it's always a thrill to see him-he's one of my biggest heroes and probably the reason I play country music today.

AboutCountry Staff: If you could record a duet with someone, who would it be?

James Otto: Dolly Parton - or would that make it a quartet?! Haha! I'd also love to do a duet with Gretchen-I think our voices are perfect together. And, someday, I would love to work with Bob Seger.

AboutCountry Staff: Have you had to adjust your lifestyle at all for the fan recognition that comes with fame?

James Otto: Fame? I'm not sure I'm there yet buddy, but I'll hopefully let ya' know! It's cool to be recognized and as a new artist, I love to hear what the fans think about my music. That's why you play in the first place, ya' know?

AboutCountry Staff: Who are some of your favorite country artists?

James Otto: Don Williams, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Hank Jr., Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson, Travis Tritt, and Tim McGraw.

AboutCountry Staff: What would you like to say to the fans out there reading this interview?

James Otto: BUY MY ALBUM! Ha! Thanks for your interest and for taking the time to read all this. Hope you like what you hear on the record.

Our thanks to James again for his time.
