Fans of country music know that every song tells a story, and many of those stories read like pages from our own lives. The lyrics speak to us.

Toby Keith was on the north side of 40 when he sang "As Good as I Once Was," lamenting that although a couple of cute girls are cuddling up to him in a bar and his best buddy needs help after provoking a fight with "one great big fat biker man," he might have lost a step or two over the years. He may not be up to the tasks, but he assures us that he's still as good once as he ever was.

Then there's Jo Dee Messina's "My Give a Damn's Busted," in which she 'fesses up that no matter how much her ex cries and tries to crawl back, she's had enough. And we've all had seriously bad days like the one Blake Shelton sings about in "Some Beach," where all we can think of is slipping away to some peaceful, quiet spot on the sand where road rage doesn't exist. We either know of – or are – a girl like the one in Joe Nichols' song, "Tequila Make Her Clothes Fall Off," dropping and losing earrings and jackets and shoes as we party.

Here are the Top 60 country music singles of 2005 as ranked by Billboard. The list begins with Craig Morgan's #1 hit, "That's What I Love About Sunday." It will take you back to your relaxed childhood in a flash – either that, or it might convince you that you don't want to work this weekend. You can click on the links to purchase albums.
