How To Prepare For a Concert

By Shelly Fabian, About.com

You've got your tickets to see your favorite artists, but you're worried you'll forget to bring something. No problem. Use my check list below for items to bring.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 15 minutes

Here's How:

  1. First of all, make sure you have your tickets with you.
  2. Make sure to have directions to the venue, and allow yourself plenty of time to arrive, park, and find your seats.
  3. Depending on where you are sitting, you may want to buy film. If you have nosebleed seats, you'll probably want to skip this step.
  4. If you do decide to take pictures, don't worry about using a flash. The stage lights provide enough light upon the artists that a flash isn't necessary.
  5. If your show is outdoors, during the summer, or any other hot weather time, you'll definitely want to bring some bottled water with you.
  6. Again, if your show is outdoors, you may want to freeze the bottled water the night before. It will keep it cold for hours this way.
  7. Tie a banner or piece of cloth to the antenna of your car, and mark down where you parked so at the end of the show you can find your vehicle again.
  8. If your concert is outdoors, you'll want to make sure to bring some sunblock. You can burn even in overcast weather. Re-apply every few hours.
  9. For outdoor shows, you'll also want to bring a hat of some sort to shade your face from the sun, plus a jacket for later in the evening.
  10. A small flashlight will be handy for changing film in your camera.
  11. Scout out where the restrooms are closest to your seats, so you won't be wandering around looking for them later.
  12. Most of all, enjoy yourself. Be courteous to other fans, and don't stand up in front of them the whole show. If you have signs, hold them up for a short while, then lower them so that those behind you can see the stage.

Tips:

  1. If you are buying a camera for the event, make sure to get one that is auto-focus. There's nothing worse than having to refocus every shot.
  2. Do bring binoculars with you if you're not sitting very close to the stage. Some venues will also rent binoculars, but check first so you aren't left without them.
