Guide Review - The Heart of a Legend - Patsy Cline
Universal Music and Madacy Entertainment have re-released a two-disc compilation of some great Patsy Cline music. Patsy was discovered in 1956 when she sang "Walkin' After Midnight" on the nationally televised Arthur Godfrey Talent Show. Singing was something Patsy had wanted to do from a young age, and she had been performing for local events all during her teen years and had recorded on various local labels. "Walking After Midnight" took off and peaked at #2 on the country charts. She was on her way. In the next 7 years, she recorded music that will never go out of style. She was the first female solo artist to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1973 and received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy in 1995. She is a true legend in her field. The first CD is compiled of ten Patsy Cline love songs. You will find such classics as, "Faded Love," "Crazy" and "I Fall to Pieces." There is also the title song of her biographical movie, "Sweet Dreams." One of my favorites on the disc is "Back in Baby's Arms." It has a catchy tempo and carefree lyrics.
The second CD has 12 songs that are also fairly well known. "Three Cigarettes In An Ashtray," "Walkin' After Midnight" and "Pick Me Up (On Your Way Down)" are all songs I grew up with. "A Church, A Courtroom & Then Goodbye" laments the loss of something that God meant to last forever. This re-release is an excellent addition to anyone's collection of country music.
