Guide Review - Dwight Yoakam - Population Me
"Population Me" is Yoakam's first release on his new imprint, Electrodisc, through his new record label, Audium. "Population Me" consists of 10 tracks, but doesn't come up short on value. No one can do heartache like Dwight Yoakam. He has an awesome talent for making the most mournful lyrics sound upbeat & catchy, mingling toe-tapping shuffles with the unique blend of Dixieland jazz/honkytonk rhythms of the title track.
Dwight Yoakam's never-subtle but always slightly intoxicating Kentucky voice hiccups & pops through good ol' hillbilly songs and croons with the velvet undertones of a smoky den on chocolate-rich ballads. Here's to the beginning of another 14 years of awesome entertainment.
