Guide Review - Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 - Trace Adkins

Trace Adkins first single, "There's A Girl In Texas" was a moderate hit and every single he released over the course of four albums is included on his first "Greatest Hits" collection. Of the 14 songs on the collection, 13 of them were hits with 6 being Top 10 hits (including the new single "Then They Do"). The lone song that was never a single is interesting nonetheless. "Welcome To Hell" is a song Trace wrote and recorded with producer/writer Bobby Terry. It's a song that talks about radical Muslims and how they perceive what they do (terrorism) to be God's work when it really isn't.

While all the songs on the CD are solid, the best ones are "(This Ain't) No Thinkin Thing," "The Rest Of Mine," the mournful ballad "Every Light In The House" and the singles from the Chrome CD, "Chrome," "I'm Tryin'" and "Help Me Understand."

Trace Adkins is one of those artists who has been "bubbling under" the radar while never really becoming a huge superstar. He has a loyal fan following and records solid country songs. The singles from Trace's fourth album, "Chrome" set the stage for this "Hits" package and his next CD, the December 2003 release "Coming On Strong."
