Guide Review - Very Best of John Michael Montgomery - John Michael Montgomery

When John Michael Montgomery left his family band in Kentucky for the bright lights of Nashville, I doubt that he had any idea that he would go on to be one of the biggest musical acts of the 1990's. John Michael released his "Life's A Dance" Album in 1992 to great fan fare and immediately began a string of hit singles that continued all the way to 2002's "'Til Nothing Comes Between Us."

One could make a case for John Michael being the second most popular male country artist of the 1990's behind Garth Brooks and after listening to this album of hits, I understand their logic. The CD possesses the smash hits, like "I Love the Way You Love Me," "I Swear," "I Can Love You Like That" "Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)," and more recent hits like "The Little Girl" and "Home To You." In between those songs are solid singles like "Angel In My Eyes," "Rope The Moon," the fun "Be My Baby Tonight," "Friends" and "Hold On To Me." In addition to the hits, there are two wonderful new tracks included for longtime fans: the fun Harley Allen/Brice Long penned "Cool" and a Tom Douglas song called "One Day Less."

Fans of John Michael Montgomery or those who never got any of his stuff but always liked him, will surely want to pick up this nicely priced collection of songs that's absent of any "filler" tracks. It is a nice historical walk through John Michael Montgomery's 11 year old career.
