Guide Review - What The World Needs Now Is Love - Wynonna
Wynonna was a star as a member of the Judds in the 80s and was a solo star in the 90's and now after some time off, she's back with a new album and her voice has never sounded better. Featuring 14 strong songs, the album is a vibrant return to her country roots. While it retains the "worldly" charm of previous Wynonna solo efforts, the record is sonically closest to the 1st two CDs Wy made after her mother, Naomi, retired. The title track, "What The World Needs" was the first single and re-introduced Wynonna to country radio. "Heaven Help Me" is the second single from the album and is slowly climbing the charts. "Flies On The Butter (You Can't Go Home Again)" is a "duet" with Naomi & is a wonderful anthem about wistful memories of childhood. The song sounds like a classic Judds song and will probably be a big hit when it gets released to radio. The song "You Are" is a special song for Wy for it is written by her (with Gordon Kennedy and Wayne Kirkpatrick) for sister Ashley Judd (the actress). Another special song is "Rescue Me." This wonderful song was written (as a teenager) by dying cancer patient Katherine Darnell while she struggled and coped with her disease.
If you have a hankering for some homespun tales of life, love, faith and everything that falls in between, then you could do worse than to buy Wynonna Judd's comeback album, "What The World Needs Now Is Love." As the title of the CD suggests, the world does need love and Wynonna is out to help soothe your soul.
