Guide Review - Christmas on the Mountain: A Bluegrass Christmas - Various Artists
Doc Watson, Del McCoury and Mac Wiseman team up for "Christmas Time's A Comin'." This has always been a favorite of mine and the Bluegrass instruments just add to the feel of the song. "I'll Be Home For Christmas" has Cyndi Wheeler performing with the Del McCoury Band. She has a voice that encourages that sentimental feeling while you listen to the song. The Del McCoury Band does a very traditional "Blue Christmas." "Silent Night" is a duet with Mac Wiseman and Del McCoury.
Ronnie McCoury penned "Bluegrass Christmas" and he sings the song with The Del McCoury Band joining in. The Del McCoury Band, Mac Wiseman and The Osbourne Brothers sing their own version of "Our 12 Days of Bluegrass Christmas." It is truly a unique rendition and fun to listen to. Tim O'Brien wrote and performed the funny song of the album. "Bah Humbug" is a truly hilarious song about the woes of the Christmas season. Someone would be hard pressed to come up with something with more originality.
The album closes very fittingly with "Auld Lang Syne" done as a Blue Grass Instrumental. This album will fit into any Christmas collection with ease.
