Guide Review - Doc: First Season - Billy Ray Cyrus
The first time Billy Ray Cyrus heard "Achy Breaky Heart, he knew it was a hit. When he first read the script for the pilot episode of "DOC," Billy Ray felt the same way. After being careful about the roles he chose for his growing acting career, Billy Ray thought he'd found the perfect part. It was a part that wouldn't require much acting on his part for the "fish out of water" plot of a "country" doctor moving to the city (New York) wasn't much unlike his own move to Nashville. The show starts off with an episode that has Doctor Clint Cassidy (Billy Ray) following his newfound love to New York City to see where his relationship blooms. After that, the doctor adjusts to life in New York and while he meets many obstacles, like fellow doctors who don't understand his ways or the bureaucratic HMO he works for, the Doc decides that people are generally the same no matter where they live. Each of the 11 episodes confronts some issues, meets the problems head on and wraps up with a moral-filled message and note to Doc's mentor back in Montana.
It's a shame that this wonderful television program is on such a small broadcast network (PAX TV) for it is family entertainment at its finest. It's a show that is clean and doesn't feature many of the plot lines in most drama TV shows. If you want to enjoy some quality TV but missed the original episodes, check out DOC: Season One on DVD.
