Guide Review - Live At Billy Bob's - Jack Ingram

Dubbed the "anti-hat act," Jack Ingram solidly delivers his alt-country sound in a live environment on 'Live At Billy Bob's.'

"We're All In This Together" is a perfect first song because it gets the crowd to feel unified like they should really get into the concert until the end. Upbeat "Flutter" is about a woman who is thought of to be the perfect companion because the man gets excited when she is near enough to take hold of him.

"Ghost Of A Man" was written late one night after listening to Hank Williams, Sr. & is about a man who has nothing left to give because of dreams that have been haunting his lonely mind. The fourth of July might seem like an odd time to feel sorry for yourself but that is the case on "Red, White & Blues." "I should probably feel better but I've had enough" Jack sings. One of my personal favorite songs is "Keep On Keepin' On" & with the live cut there's an extended, almost seven minutes long version. Starting out mellow is "A Little Bit," which slowly builds up in attitude but is scaled back from the regular version. "I Won't Go With Her" is abut the kind of guy who likes to drive & the lady has a fast car.

"Dim Lights, Thick Smoke (And Loud, Loud Music" is a song I always love to hear covers of and Jack does a wonderful version as he also does on the final track, "Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way?" which has a few lyrical changes & leaves me wishing there were more songs even though 15 should be more than enough.
