Guide Review - Real - Marshall Madison
I always like hearing new artists & am so glad that I had the chance to review Marshall Madison's 'Real' album. As he explains in the first track, "Not Pretty, But Real" he may not wear a cowboy hat or fit into tight blue jeans but what he sings is real country music & none of that cross-over nonsense. You can't go wrong with a country song about trucking and Marshall's "Truckers Anthem" has him singing about life on the road and how he can handle any situation because he's a trucking man and driving is what he does best. Slow tune, "Jackson Mississippi" is a standout track & is a fine choice for a first single. "Lonely Home" has a great beat while the story of a man who didn't listen to his wife is now left all alone in a home that was full of tears is told.
"Harry Arm," despite having a title that makes you wonder what it will be about, really gets listeners energized with its danceable honky-tonk beat. A man walks into his and his wife's room and finds her sleeping next to someone with a harry arm only to realize later on when he is sober that it was really a teddy he bought her for her birthday. "Why and How" features a wonderful piano backdrop against lyrics about learning things from people before they have to leave. Another song with a piano background is "Give Up Eternity," where Marshall emotionally sings about wishing love would last for an eternity.
Marshall Madison is the 'Real' deal who isn't afraid to twang, which is what country music should be about.
