Guide Review - Spend My Time - Clint Black
It doesnt seem that long ago that Clint Black was a reigning star of Country music. At the time it seemed that he (and his class of 89 brethren) could do no wrong with the songs they released to radio. However, like all things, the times were changing and a new wave of stars came upon the scene. So, after the hits stopped happening in regular intervals, Clint was passed over by his label for newer more desired artists and thus he left the label and took some time off, until now. After one listen to Spend My Time, Clints first release for his new label Equity Records (one for which he's a partner/owner of), I am here to proclaim that Clint is back in a big way. The album is full of quality songs and memorable performances. Any of the songs could do well on the radio. We All Fall Down, What Ever Happened, and Everything I Need all find Clint in a groove that he used to sing in all the time. My Imagination is a traditional styled ballad that Clint hasnt done in quite a while. The lyrics tell about how a mind can wander off and imagine things. A Mind To Haywire both discuss modern aspects of life while A Lovers Clown, co-written with Steve Wariner, has a haunting melody to match poetic lyrics about the things that love can do to our souls.
With Spend My Time, Clint Black has created one of his better albums. Anyone who buys this album will be pleased with what they hear for it is his best album in years.
