Guide Review - Stephanie Urbina Jones - Stephanie Urbina Jones

While her name isn’t familiar to many, fans of Lorrie Morgan have heard one of Stephanie’s songs before. “Shakin’ Things Up” was the title track to Lorrie’s CD and it also appears on this CD (it’s great too). In between Lorrie’s album and the release of this album Stephanie has been hard at work crafting her own unique style. That style is reminiscent of Nashville Star runner up john Arthur martinez in that Stephanie incorporates both the English and Spanish languages into many of her songs.

The best tracks on 'Stephanie Urbina Jones' incorporate that sound. “La Reina de los Angeles (Queen Of Angels) is but one of the songs. “He Reminds Me Of Texas” is a song that received a lot of regional airplay in Texas and garnered Stephanie a Texas Music Chart Top 10 hit. Another single released to Texas radio is the wonderful “I Home.” Also a big hit, the song tells a story of a wandering soul returning home. “Ayayay” is a sultry love song with a Latin feel to it.

While Stephanie isn’t going to be on Nashville Star II, after being an original Top 20 semi-finalist, she is well on her way to becoming a star in her own right. She has great songs and a whopper of a voice that begs to be heard. Traditional and Texas country fans should give this album a shot.
