You Do Your Thing - Montgomery Gentry

The Bottom Line

Eddie and Troy are back with their fourth album and they are making music just as great as they ever have. The music isn't too different but you can definitely hear some "new" that has been added to their sound.

Guide Review - You Do Your Thing - Montgomery Gentry

From the first time I heard a Montgomery Gentry song I was a fan & it is hard to believe that they are releasing their fourth album. 'You Do Your Thing' has the great sound that listeners appreciate from Eddie & Troy, but they have also added some "new" to the mix.

"Something To Be Proud Of" says that "You don't need to make a million, just be thankful to be working" because as long as you are doing the best you can putting food on the table for your family then there's no need to feel ashamed. The title track, "You Do Your Thing" is all about getting everyone to mind their own business because the guy is going to keep working hard making money the old fashion way. First single "If You Ever Stop Loving Me" is about having support to make it through anything life dishes out because without it bad days wouldn't be easy to forget.

"She Loved Me" shows a softer side of the duo. Eddie sings about finding love at a bar where his band was playing & how after he found a regular job he started drinking & cheating but she stood by him until finally she couldn't take it. Every once in awhile she calls to tell him how his boys are doing. Troy sings "Gone," an up-tempo tune that describes many ways to be gone. Even though you may feel down in the dumps you need to be thankful for what you have because other people have it worse in "I Ain't Got It All That Bad," with Hank Williams Jr. "There were those who never made it back, me I got lucky and found a landing pad," sings Hank.
