Guide Review - Ultimate Ronnie Milsap - Ronnie Milsap
The latest in the BMG Music 'Ultimate Series' is 'The Ultimate Ronnie Milsap.' It is a collection of 22 of Ronnie's 35 plus number 1 hits. While there are no new tracks on this collection, you will find great songs designed to bring back the memories of what country radio used to be about. They are timeless classics, and many of them still have a home on the airwaves. From 1972 until the early 90's, Ronnie was consistent with his number one hits. He had at least one, and often several, every year during that time frame.Jerry Bradley signed Ronnie with RCA when Ronnie came to Nashville and Ronnie remained with RCA for many successful years. Because he had already heard Ronnie at a Memphis nightclub singing R&B, Jerry almost didn't give him a chance for a contract in the country field. Thank goodness he listened to the demo tape, because Ronnie has knocked 'em dead since day one.
Since Ronnie married Joyce in 1965, she has remained his closed friend and adviser. "Only One Love In My Life" was a song that long-time producer Tom Collins and Ronnie chose to honor the love they share and it was a hit. From "Pure Love" in 1974 to "A Woman in Love" in 1989, Ronnie has consistently given his fans hit after hit. He is still in the recording studio today, but as with many of the older artists, radio chooses to ignore his offerings. He continues to travel the country offering one of the best road shows there is.
