Seen One Garth Show, Seen Them All?
line

It happens every time... You announce that you are going to see the man again, and your friends, and/or family roll their eyes and say, "You've already seen him. Why do you have to see him again?"

They just don't get it! A Garth show is an experience, each unique from the next. Sure Garth sings many of the same songs, and he has the same band members, and Trisha opens for him, but each concert is different.

From the six concerts I've been to, each one has been different. Not totally different, but different and special in their own way.

My first Garth experience was in Sacramento, CA. My husband and I went together. He, not a Garth fan, and I, a GarthNutt-in-training. We had balcony seats in the 3rd row, on the rear corner of the stage. I knew from reading other people's Concert Reviews, that Garth played the rear of the stage, so I had no fear that I wouldn't see his face.

I can't even begin to describe the excitement of this concert. Even though I was nowhere near Garth, I felt that when he sang and looked in our direction, he was singing just to me. He's got that magical aura about him that reaches right out and grabs you when you hear his voice.

One of the highlights of this show was when Garth told us it was Buck Owens birthday, and we all sang over a cell phone Happy Birthday to him.

I knew without a doubt that I would see him again, somewhere and somehow. And, after developing our 7 rolls of film and finding out the battery decided to die, I was right.

I was heartbroken that I wouldn't have any photos to display from the concert when I wrote my review here. My hubby took pity on me and told me if I could find the tickets, he would take me again.

Unfortunately, the tickets for San Jose had already gone on sale, so I had to locate tickets from a third party, and ended up paying more than face value for them. But I had them. I needed them!

So begins the second Garth experience. San Jose's stadium was quite a bit different. Sacramento's Arco Arena was out in the middle of nowhere, but San Jose's stadium was downtown, and we had to find a parking lot and walk to the arena.

The San Jose show was again different from the first. We sat on the lower level, however still quite a ways back. We ended up with seats against the wall. Still, we each had a camera, my husband borrowing a friend's camera and I had ours. We took another 7 rolls of film this time, and prayed.

While the show was similar, another thing I will remember forever, which had nothing to do with the show itself, was that was the night that Princess Diana was killed in Paris.

One of the things I remember about this show was when Garth sang "Unanswered Prayers" and after it was done, the crowd just wouldn't stop cheering and yelling. Garth took off his guitar and tossed it in the air, and it landed on the stage behind him. He then went to his knees on the edge of the stage and looked up in the air thanking God for the love we showed him.
