Aaron Tippin was part of a double-artist show in Hiawassee, GA on July 6, 2002. He was co-headlining with Ronnie Milsap, and they each did two shows that evening. They each put on a great show, and I'll review Aaron's portion here.

We went to the 6:30 show. It was a hot and humid summer evening in Georgia, but the fans didn't let the discomfort stop them from filling up the venue for two great artists. Aaron took the stage after his son Teddy lead the Pledge of Allegiance and then the 4 year old introduced his DADDY - Aaron Tippin. Aaron hit the stage ready to go. He is a very energetic performer and I was very impressed. It was my first Aaron Tippin show and I'm definitely ready to see another. He includes the audience and talks to them like they are his next-door neighbors. He was wearing a t-shirt and jeans and he uses a headset microphone so he can move around the stage freely.

During one part of the show, Aaron talked about knowing his way around a toolbox. To prove the point, he assembled a bicycle onstage while singing his popular hit, "Working Man's Ph.D." He keeps his "handyman" skills intact and one of his favorite charities, Toys for Tots, got another new bike. He estimated he has given them over 450 bicycles to date. Another neat part of his show was when his band "took over." They were trying to convince Aaron he should let them do some Rock-n-Roll songs. So he sat in a rocking chair that was brought onstage while they tried to convince him. I tell you what, there is nothing like watching a male band member with a very deep voice donning a long black wig and singing a Donna Summer song. The audience was in stitches for that one.

While Aaron isn't someone I've followed very closely, I can honestly say that I have really liked everything I've heard from him. After watching him onstage, I will most likely try to learn a bit more about his music. He sings one of my all-time favorite songs, "Where The Stars and Stripes and Eagles Fly." Aaron is a patriotic man in general. Although that song was released after September 11, it was written a couple of years ago. Others songs he has released through the years also give testimony to his love of his country. After leaving the stage, he came back for an encore of two songs. The first song he did was "Where the Stars and Stripes and Eagles Fly." For this song, he played his guitar that was painted like the American Flag. It was the only song that he played an instrument on; and the audience was cheering and on their feet throughout the entire thing. He closed with what he said was a song depicting his feelings for the cowards that initiated the events of September 11 - "Kiss This!!" It was a great end to a great show. He is definitely someone I would recommend seeing if you want an entertaining show. I'm including a song list. There were a couple of songs I didn't know at all, and I apologize if I got other titles wrong. I guessed on a few.
