Gary Allan and Lari White presented the Top New Vocal Duet or Group Award.

The winner was:
Rascal Flatts

Lonestar sang the first single "I'm Already There" from their upcoming album.

Terri Clark, Patty Loveless and Ronnie Milsap presented the Pioneer Award. They mentioned the Pioneer Award is always kept a secret and the person came to the show thinking they were presenting an award to someone else. Louise Mandrell was the fourth presenter, and they all paid tribute to Barbara Mandrell. Barbara won her first ACM in 1971. In her acceptance speech she mentioned that she was now a full-time mother and homemaker, and she never worked so hard in her life for no money.

Lee Ann Womack sang "Why They Call It Falling."

Bryan White & his wife Erika Paige presented New Male Vocalist Award.

The winner was:
keith urban

Collin Raye, Entertainment Tonight's Leeza Gibbons, and Survivor II's Tina presented the Single of the Year Award.
