It's been 2 years since Clay Walker released Say No More, on his old label, Giant Records. His first album for his new label has spawned a Top 10 hit already, and looks to move even higher. "A Few Questions" is a song to make you think about why things happen, and one that has obviously hit a chord with many listeners. Clay's last Top 10 song was in 2000, when he released "The Chain of Love," off his Live, Laugh, Love CD, so I'm sure it's feeling awful sweet to have such a high ranking single on his new label.

Clay started his career back in 1993 on Giant Records, which was his musical home until it's closing. During his tenure there he released thirteen Top 10 singles, including six No. 1 songs.

One listen to A Few Questions, and you'll see that there are more Top 10 singles to come.

"Everybody Needs Love" talks about all the things people love in different places, like in L.A., where people love cars, muscles and martini bars, and in Texas they love the Cowboys, rib-eyes, roping steers and long neck beers. But no matter where you're from, everybody needs love. I can easily see this song being a hit.

"Sweet Sun Angel: is a mid-tempo song that sings the praises of a girl who "from the tip of her toes to the top of her curls, she's 100% American girl." Another one that I think could be a hit.

In "Jesus Was a Country Boy" Clay sings about evangalists decked out in expensive clothes, asking for all kinds of money from everyone, and he says he bets that Jesus never had a million dollars, or wore fancy clothes, "'cause Jesus was a country boy, walkin' down the dirt road with everything that he owned. He never met a stranger. He was born in a barn, underneath the stars. His mama laid him in a manger..." It's an interesting picture.

"I Can't Sleep" is a song co-written by Clay and Chely Wright. It's got a lot of soul to it. He sings "I'm not gonna sleep til I touch your face. Not a wink, I could go for days." This is something you'd love to hear from your significant other.

You can tell Clay's having a lot of fun with "When She's Good She's Good." The song is based on the old saying "when she's good she's good, but when she's bad she's better." Great uptempo tune and I think it would make a good follow-up single to the softer slow-paced "A Few Questions."

I love the fiddles that start out "This Is What Matters." Similar in theme to Toby Keith's "My List," it talks about the things that are important in your life. "And I ain't gonna answer my cell phone. I don't care about going online. The office, the boss, what this trip's gonna cost, is the last thing on my mind." I hope he releases this as a single. It's another one that I think would be something to so many people.

My favorite track would have to be "I Don't Want To Know." Being a sucker for ballads, this is the perfect song. "I don't want to experience how it would feel to live one second without you hear. Left without your kisses, wanting more. I could hear your heartbeat like before. What would I do, where would I go, if you were gone and I had to move on. I don't wanna know." Beautiful! This has gotta be a single too.

"I Can't Forget Her" is another favorite. I love the beautiful latin-inspired guitar work and the beautifully descriptive lyrics. His girl left him and is with someone else. He says that there are other women who are willing to be with him, but he just can't forget that one girl. "She goes running through my mind, like that Rio Grand River winds through the desert, and I can't forget her."

It's been a while since Clay has been on top of the charts, and with the songs from A Few Questions, I think that's just where we'll be seeing him once more. Welcome back Clay.
