CD Review: All Mixed Up - SHeDAISY

The three sisters of SHeDAISY sure have had a busy couple of years getting their career started. Not only were they the first country act to debut at the number one spot on Billboard Magazine's Heatseeker's album chart, they have also performed for two President - Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

They decided that after two years they needed to do something a little different and that is why they decided to re-do all their songs and release an album called "The Whole SHeBANG - All Mixed Up."

"Little Goodbyes" sounds a lot like the original version (on their first album) and is a spunky song about how when the guy comes home from work he better not be surprised to see that the girl left him. She took all the good stuff and all that was left for him was the junk as her "little goodbye" to him.

My favorite mix on this album would have to be the one for "I Will...But" because in the beginning they sing a little bit of "How Can I Keep From Singing" (acapella) before a digitized sound breaks into Kassidy singing and sounding like she is far off in a tunnel. I can definitely picture this one being played in a club.

"This Woman Needs," like "Little Goodbyes," has a mix to it that is not too different than the original. In some parts the guitar sounds a bit "heavier," though and would do well playing while the couples slow dance with one another.

"Before Me and You" sounds like an all-out heavy rock song compared to everything else on this album. Another impressive thing to this version is the funky echo going on throughout the song.

Almost unrecognizable, "Lucky 4 You (Tonight I'm Just Me)" is another one of my favorites. Whenever each personality is singing, they can be heard on a different speaker. Another addition is a saxophone in the background and it sounds like they are hanging out outside recording with more of an urban feel to the music.

"Punishment" is mixed to sound even more country than it already was, which rather surprised me because usually when something is mixed they stray away from the country sound altogether. "Somewhere along down the line, I guess that love became a crime. This contradiction makes no sense, this is punishment."

If I had to choose one song that would really fit the whole "remix" ideology and also fit the bill of being able to be played in a dance club, I would have to say that "Dancing With Angels" is the most prominent one for that purpose. From the breezy start to the hard beats and the spooky organ ending this one is the most likely to be popular.

This is a great album to get if you want to see a different side to SHeDAISY and want to hear something "new" from them while they work on a second, regular, album.
