"There have been two songwriters of mythic stature in the history of Music Row. First of all , Hank Williams, who wrote what the blue collar man was thinking and feeling but was afraid to say. Then came Kris Kristofferson who who wrote what the learned and scholarly were thinking and feeling but were reluctant to say." - Al (Cooley) Bianculli "Blame It On The Stones" is a hilarious hard-edged song that if I am getting it right blames the Rolling Stones, and groups like them for the country going to hell in a hand basket during the 1960s. "To Beat The Devil" begins with a very cool spoken narration. Kris dedicates the song to his friend Johnny Cash. I have always liked the song "Me And Bobby McGee," written by Kris, and made most famous by Janis Joplin. I know a lot of people disagree with me but I think his version is the best. I have heard countless numbers of artists cover "Help Me Make It Through The Night," but Kris does it the best. I absolutely love how he growls out "Take The Ribbon From Your Hair." "For The Good Times" has always been one of my favorite classic country songs. I love "Sunday Morning Coming Down." Who hasn't partied all weekend and then had this song go through your mind as you face the dawn of a Sunday morning? "Darby's Castle" is one of those great story songs that I think country music really needs more of these days. "Duvalier's Dream" is a really cool song that that has an awesome instrumental accompaniment. I can't really call it a country song. All I can really call it actually, is just really cool. I am not sure that I completely understand the song "The Junkie And The Juicehead Minus Me," but to me it sounds like a slam against the Nashville music scene of the 1960s. "Come Sundown" is a Kristofferson gem that was a big hit for Bobby Bare. Song List:
