While some of the songs may not shine lyrically ("Good Times" for instance), those guitar solos are certainly redeeming. Blues great Kenny Wayne Shepherd helps out on "Let The Guitar Do the Talking," and Wynonna guests on the sassy "God Created Woman." The best songs on the album are Anita's own efforts though. "That's Not What I Said," (co-written with Victoria Shaw) is about one couples miscommunication. "You With Me" which would make a perfect wedding song, and "Every Time It Rains" really stand out. At a time when it is sometimes hard to distinguish the line between pop and country, "Anita" is a refreshing change and a must have for anyone who loves real country music. Until I sat down to do a little research for this review, I had no idea exactly how talented Anita Cochran really was. Not satisfied to simply sing, Anita also plays all the lead guitar breaks, and she wrote or co-wrote 7 of the 11 songs off her new album titled "Anita". From outstanding instrument playing to the heartfelt ballads, there's surely something here for everyone.
