| Brooks & Dunn Concert Review | |
This was my third time seeing Kix and Ronnie, and my second time this year. I saw them in September in Kelseyville, at the Konocti Harbor Resort. Still have yet to see a Neon Circus show, as they always seem to come to my neck of the woods mid-week when I can't make it. Maybe next year?
The show was quite a bit like the one I saw in September, with one exception. Since then, they released their first Christmas album, and I got to hear them perform two of the songs from that. Wonderful!
I had a seat in the fourth row, center, and thought maybe this time I'll finally catch a drumstick, guitar pick or Kix's hat... was not to be, however. Will keep trying, though.
From there they went into "Ain't Nothin' About You," complete with scenes from the video on the screen behind them. Then, "She Ain't The Cheatin' Kind," "Burn That Bridge," and Kix singing "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone."
Next, he got back up on the stage and Ronnie came back out and they sang "How Long Gone," then my very favorite Brooks & Dunn song, "The Long Goodbye," then "My Maria."
The next segment is Ronnie's spotlight during "Neon Moon." He gets his blue guitar with the glowing crescent moon and the lettering on the neck spelling out "Neon Moon," and sings the heck out of that song. This is another favorite part of the show for me.
Ronnie apologized next saying "I'm gonna do a song that speaks Spanish. If you know Spanish, forgive me." And, with that he sang "My Heart Is Lost To You."
Going back to some classic oldies, the guys sang "Brand New Man." Then, they mentioned that last year they got caught up in the holiday, and sang "Blue Christmas" in honor of Elvis. This year, they have a new Christmas album and they asked if we wanted to hear one of the songs? Kix said "We never sang one before, so you might be sorry." Then, they sang "It Won't Be Christmas Without You," which is the title cut of the album, then kicked it up a bit with "Rockin' Little Christmas." When they were done, Kix said "Sounds pretty good for the first time."
After this, they sang "Good Girls Go To Heaven, Bad Girls Go Everywhere," then back to the oldies with "Boot Scootin' Boogie."
Still another part of the show that is a lot of fun, when they sing "Rock My World (Little Country Girl.)" There is a big blowup girl with a low-neck top that takes over the right side of the stage. Then, Kix and Ronnie split up the audience with Kix on the left and Ronnie on the right. Ronnie's half of the audience sings "Rock My World," and Kix's half of the audience sings "Little Country Girl," and they try to top each other for who is the loudness. At the end of the song Kix takes off his hat and tosses it into the audience. That is the end of the show and the guys leave the stage to thunderous applause. Of course, we know they will be back and soon they do return with an Encore.
"Hard Workin' Man," and "Ain't Livin' Long Like This" are the two songs they sang for the encore, and with that it truly was the end of the show.
Brooks & Dunn put on one of the best shows out there. They truly deserve the Entertainer of the Year nomination and should win it, as far as I'm concerned.

The final day of my stay in Vegas was also the busiest, with sightseeing in the afternoon and the Billboard Music Awards show at 5pm, and then Brooks & Dunn's show at 10:30 pm. My mom went with me on this trip, and we had fun running all over the place.
The guys started out with "Only In America," which is a great song, with a great production. They come in on this platform with a flag behind them, and then later in the song these four Marines come out and march in front of the flag. I got a decent pic with just two of them, and if you look carefully, you can see a person holding a small flag in the air off to the right.
After he was through with the song he popped down on the edge of the stage and asked a girl to come up and show her tattoo. Apparently, she showed it to the guys backstage. She had on a sleeveless top with snaps up the front, and she unsnapped it and turned to show her back to the audience. The camera focused in on the tattoo which you can see to the left. It was a great headshot of Kix and Ronnie. Kix said "I'm glad ya got a picture of us when we was lookin' purty."
Another favorite part of the show is when they sing "Mama Don't Get Dressed Up For Nothin'." During the song, Ronnie grabs a drumstick and bangs a cowbell. Every so often he will fling one out into the audience. From off stage, he gets tossed another drumstick to do it again. I'd have to say he probably throws about 10-12 during the one song.
