The Billboard Music Awards are not a show that you'd normally associate with country music, however several country stars were going to be in attendance, either presenting or performing. When I found out that the show would be on one of the nights I was going to be in Las Vegas anyway, I looked into getting tickets. I have to say that while there wasn't a lot that was country in the show, it was really enjoyable. While I would prefer to attend the CMAs or ACMs, the Billboard Music Awards show was well-done, and entertaining.
Cameras were allowed at the show, however with seats in the upper level, I didn't think that anything I took would be worth looking at, so I left my camera back at the hotel.
The country artists that were at the show included Tim McGraw, who presented an award for Group/Duo of the Year. Toby Keith won the Country Singles Award, and was in the audience to pick up his award. Brooks & Dunn presented an award (forget which one), and Faith Hill sang her single, "Cry." Keith Urban was also there to present an award.
When I got home I watched the show that I video taped, and I must say that Faith didn't sound as good on the tape as she did live.
Cedric the Entertainer was the MC and he did a great job. I was disappointed that Michael Jackson didn't attend, but taped his acceptance. Annie Lennox also wasn't there to receive the Century Award. Cher *was* there and she looked incredible! Rod Stewart was also there, and he looked great as well.
If I get the opportunity to attend the ACMs this year, I'm gonna do it. Being behind the scenes during a live taping is exciting, and I'd love to do it again.
