CD Review: Burn - Jo Dee Messina

line Burn - Jo Dee Messina

If you enjoyed Jo Dee's I'm Alright CD, chances are you'll enjoy this disk which is packed full of the relationship-type of song that Jo Dee excels at.

The first single, "That's The Way" is a spirited tune that speaks of how life isn't always easy, but you gotta "roll with the punches," and "bend when the wind blows." The song was written by Annie Roboff and Holly Lamar with Jo Dee in mind.

Her second single is the torchy "Burn" which talks about relationships and how she gives 110% but she wants her guy to also give 110% back.

Out of the eleven songs here, nearly all of them are either upbeat or mid-tempo, with the exception of the beautiful "Bring On The Rain" which Jo Dee sings with the help of Tim McGraw. This is a very empowering song that talks about everything going wrong, but even so, she says she's up to the task.

Most of the songs have positive messages of believing in yourself and your dreams. It's hard to pick a favorite, actually. The disk stars with the upbeat "Downtime" which talks about feelings after a relationship ends, and she says she will get on my feet and over you... Then, I really love the duet with Tim, "Bring On The Rain." "Dare To Dream" is a great song about believing in your dreams and not to be afraid to dream big... take it to the extreme... Let your heart and soul lead the way... Live, love, seize the day and dare to dream.

I like just about all the songs here, with the exception of "Angelene," which is not a bad song, but I don't feel it's as good as the rest.

Whether you're in a party mood... or you want to feel good about yourself, Jo Dee's CD is the one you want to put on the CD player and listen to.
