Billy Dean was born April 2, 1962 in Florida. He was raised on his family's farm and played in his father's country music band. After graduating from high school he won the Wrangler Star Search competition and moved to Nashville.

He was given a recording contract by Jimmy Gilmer. Billy's first album, "Young Man," released in 1990, sold one million copies and his first song "Only Here For A Little While" stayed on the charts for 26 weeks and peaked at #2. Billy's second song "Somewhere In My Broken Heart," (which is the first song I heard of his), is credited with bringing a whole new group of listeners over to country music. It was his first #1 single, and won him the Academy Of Country Music's Song and Top New Male Vocalist Of The Year Awards in 1992.

Billy stayed at Capitol Records for 8 years recording 7 albums and selling over 4 million records. He then decided to test the waters of an acting career and has since guest hosted many TV shows, and has been seen on television in such shows as "Diagnosis Murder," "Wings," and the soap opera "One Life To Live." He has also starred in the made for USA Network movie "A Face To Kill For," and has made a movie with Dolly Parton, "Blue Valley Songbird," which aired on the Lifetime Channel.

Billy continues to sing and tour. He decided to cut back however after the birth of his two children Eli and Hannah, as his family is the main priority in his life.
