They call Bob Wills "The King Of Swing." He has been a major influence in country music to such singers and groups as Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and Asleep At The Wheel.
Bob brought jazz, hillbilly boogie, big band swing, rumba, mariachi, and the jitterbug sounds into country music. He called it his "Texas Fiddle Music."

Ernest Tubb is known as "The Granddaddy Of Em All." As a young man Ernest heard some recordings
of Jimmie Rogers and decided that was what he wanted to do with his life. Due to the influence of Jimmies Widow Carrie, Ernest made his first recording with RCA Records in 1936. Nothing major came out of that recording contract. Carrie even gave Ernest one of Jimmie's guitars which he kept for years before donating it to 'The Country Music Hall Of Fame.'
In 1939, Ernest had his tonsils taken out which took away his ability to yodel and imitate Jimmie Rodgers style. He then began developing his own style.
"Walkin The Floor" was his first hit in 1941. In that same year "A Soldiers Last Letter" became his first #1 and #16 on the pop charts. An interesting fact... Ernest Tubb was the 2nd modern recording artist to record in Nashville. "Can You Name The First?"
In his whole career Ernest had 91 country charting songs. Out of those 91 only 17 failed to reach the Top 20.
Due to emphysema he was forced to retire, but before his retirement he had a small part on the Willie and Waylon song "Leave Them Boys Alone."
